Where this option fits
CalVet and VA are different programs. A CalVet limitation does not by itself determine your eligibility for a VA or other loan.
Separate the CalVet result from other loan decisions
Start with the actual reason CalVet did not fit. CalVet and federal VA financing are different programs. Then compare VA, conventional, FHA, and any eligible assistance without assuming one program’s decision applies to another.
What we will review
- Reason CalVet was not a fit
- VA eligibility and entitlement
- Conventional and FHA comparisons
- Was the issue eligibility, property, amount, or pricing?
- Which alternative solves that issue at an acceptable total cost?
Compare costs over your own timeline
VA loans do not require monthly mortgage insurance. A funding fee may apply unless you qualify for an exemption. Closing costs, prepaid items, and any required down payment still deserve a full review.
Ask for a written comparison of upfront cash, the full payment, any financed costs, and remaining debt at the same future date. Keep your emergency savings and likely moving plans in the decision.
Questions borrowers ask
Does a CalVet decline mean I cannot use VA financing?
Not by itself. Federal VA eligibility and the lender’s requirements must be reviewed independently.
What should I send to get started?
Start with your goal, property location, approximate numbers, and timeline. Use the secure application channel for identity, income, and account records; do not email sensitive documents through an inquiry form.
